«Сoncert in the dark. Inclusion» is a new project of the Moscow creative team of the Autonomous non—profit organization «Center of Socio-cultural Programs „People IN“». This is the only such project in Russia. The unusual atmosphere of the events helps not only to hear, but also to see music in a new way.
The project was supported by the singer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Diana Gurtskaya. According to her, one of his main tasks is «through art to break down barriers» between blind and seeing people. «The more such projects appear, the more people will understand the importance of inclusion and accept it», the singer said.
Concerts take place in unusual conditions — in absolute darkness, in a specially equipped space.
As noted by the director of the Nikolai Ostrovsky State Museum —Cultural Center «Integration» Igor Dumenko, «the peculiarity of concerts in the dark is that they are realized by people with disabilities. Blind guides and musicians are involved in the project».
The concert programs include the best examples of world musical culture and introduce listeners to foreign and domestic literary and musical traditions. Premieres of five programs took place in Moscow: the romantic «Everything Begins with Love…», poetry of the Russian diaspora «Memories of the Luxembourg Garden», the love story of two young heroes «A Moment of Time», instrumental and dance melodies by Russian and foreign composers «In the rhythm of the Heart» and a medley of Russian folk songs «Sing, golden Russia!».
In Moscow more than 350 people attended five new concert programs at the Nikolai Ostrovsky Museum with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
Unusual events will also be held outside the capital for the first time: residents of St. Petersburg and Tula will be able to attend unique concerts in the spring of 2024.
