The Volunteer Center «People IN», created by the ANO «CSP «People IN» together with the Nikolai Ostrovsky State Museum — Cultural Center «Integration», supports projects on socio-cultural integration of people with disabilities. Becoming a part of the volunteer center means helping to make the world in all its diversity accessible to people with different needs.

In addition to the important mission, volunteering provides an opportunity to get new experiences. Elena Grevtseva, a member of thevolunteer center «People IN», wrote an article about her volunteering experience with «People IN».

Elena was a volunteer during the «Concert in the Dark» at the Nikolai Ostrovsky Museum. She helped visitors before the events, and then she herself received an invitation to attend the concert «Ethnicity in the Dark».

«The first thing I felt was the density of darkness, literally tangibility. … The sounds of nature merged with the beating of drums, and throat shamanic singing reminded of fairy tales of the North. … in the dark, all sounds are heard completely different. It was like I saw this music in absolute darkness. A slight panic was replaced by delight at the melody," the volunteer describes her impressions.

For Elena Grevtseva, the concert turned out to be a unique experience, after which she realized that the world is «fast and changeable, and at this speed it is very important to preserve humanity and show respect for each other, put yourself in the other’s place.» We are glad that thanks to her participation in thevolunteer center «People IN», Elena discovered new facets of the world around her and came to such valuable thoughts.
